I plan on building the 5x8 generic Benroy trailer. I just got off the phone with Harbor Freight and the largest one they have is a 4x8 size. It's on sale for $299.00 till today, she said that she would honour the price till Thursday. Can I use this size for the Benroy? it has 12 inch tires.
Thanks

Skip, there is also a new Harbor Freight 15% off coupon floating around although I am not sure how to post it. I bought the 1175# trailer with 12" wheels for $187 a while back using a 20% off coupon when it was on sale for $219 I think.
I'm building a 5'x8' on a 4'x8' HF trailer frame. I'm not finished yet, but there are some photos of the extended floor frame in my build journal: http://www.naturefrog.com/teardrops.htm
Here's the current 15% off coupon, good until 9/27:
I was at HF today to pick up a 1000 lb. trailer jack for $17 (on sale and with coupon). I saw that the 12" wheel trailer is on sale for $239. I am assuming that is the 1175 pound capacity. Take 15% off and it gets pretty cheap.
My camper is 5 1/2' wide but is built over the wheels.
I went by after work and picked up my trailer. They didn't have the lighter duty one at this store, so I got the heavy duty one. The tires have the 5 lug bolts which I like better anyway. While I was there I found a 10" compound miter saw on sale for $69.00 I pulled out my cheapo camera and took some starting pics.

Skip,
I see I am a little late in answering, but yes, you can build up the Generic Benroy on that trailer. You'll just have to tuck your wheels underneath the body, like I did on the Escape Hatch/Winter Warrior. You can look at my photo essay for ideas...

The hardest part is the conflict between the wheel wells and the mattress. I got around that by cutting 4" out of my 6" mattress where the wheelwell was...
Mike...
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...
I'm glad it worked for you...have fun planning and assembling!
Oh, and a big 'thumbs-up' on the Biodiesel! I'm shopping for a Diesel VW right now and hope to run a veggie oil conversion....biodiesel isn't readily available here yet.
I just found a 2003 Jetta TDI about 2 months ago, I think it might be the best car I've ever owned! As for SVO or WVO in a new TDI check this link out
http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/04/in-t ... vegetable/ That's one of the neatest looking conversions I've ever seen.
I'm getting around 48 to 50 MPG on mine, I love that!
ForrestFrog, those are awsome build pics. Keep us posted on the continued construction. Looks like you have given it a lot of thought and is should be as solid as a rock. Good luck.
Roly, still puttering with the 1/4 Nelson Stacker, only 10% to go.
