"Ooo Shinny"... Buffing it out!

Hey there I am on the horrible process of Buffing Out our Tear drop

I am useing "Mothers's buffing compound" and finishing with some green stuff called "Intimidator" we picked up ar CarQuest..

Is the Polish any good?

I have been hand and power buffing for over 16 hours and i am only Half way done!

Today I over heating so bad I had to come inside do to fears of heat exhausion.

BTW: Dont EVER try to wax aluminum after you buff it...
Everything went Foggy and I had to REBUFF the wax away...
Talk about working the Agean Stables.... :x

Now that you got the hang of it, can you come over and help me do mine. It only has 60+ years of oxidation on it! I use the Nuvite polish.

BTW: you guys Really should try the "Intimidator Polish"...(the green stuff)
It is twice as good as "Mothers"!

At the North meets south rally I made an enemy...

Yup, Marvin Hates me!
Here is a picture of him saying "I really hate this guy."

And here is why...
I made a CLEAN SPOT on his aluminum TRAILER useing Intimidator...
I litterally put 5 drops of the stuff on a wash cloth,
and then with 2 fingers, Lightly rubbed it on for 3 minutes...
and then whipped off 4 years of oxydation...

The poor guy about Fainted! :lol:

Hey, I WARNED HIM first how shinny it would be... but HE insisted...
So, It is NOT MY FAULT that he didn't believe me! ... He he he

Now, he has to shine the whole thing!
Poor guy...

To do the job,
I figuire, I sucked at least 24 hours of his life away...

I polished my second tear and I will not do it again.
Too much work and the alumuinm wasn't perfect and if you
don't keep at it or protect it some way it's never ending polishing.

I polished one canned ham trailer, I have the one pictured above to do. Although, I have the knowledge, practice, and equipment to do it, I am considering paying someone to do the next one. As much as I like to stand back and say, "I polished it myself", it is a lot of work. If I ever cover a trailer in aluminum skin, I will not be polishing it.

after many years of polishing brass in the Marine corp - i want no part of this polishing thing! however I do respect the amount ot time and effort going into the polishing - Great work guys!

MadJack, this stuff is expensive, but so is labor! How long would this stuff protect an aluminum, buffed trailer skin?

Depending on how hard the aluminum skins are, will require a general touch up each year to maintain the original level of shine. The first efforts are always the most tedious.
