I am new to this but its is addicting for sure. I got the 2 x 2 frame cut today and ready to weld together. I need to know how far back to put the axle for a 5 x 10 trailer building a teardrop style ?

SJ, if you look in the index at the top of this page you will see a link for "Design Library"...it has a trailer balance section...my personal rule of thumb for a TD built in the traditional manner is to put the wheels centered at 36"s for an 8' trailer and move it forward 3r4"s for each foot of additional length or around 44 to 46"s for a 10fter..as always, do your own determination based on how you build and load, because...YMMV

Thanks guys I overlooked that part of the forum but it is just what I was looking for. I weld just about everyday but have never built a trailer before so this is a first.

I got dumb lucky I guess !

I use the 60 - 40 rule I had stored away in the old brain pan. 60% of the frame length forward 40% to the rear.
On my 5x10 that's 4' from the rear . It tows great and I can back it up like a pro.

build the trailer, then mount the axle..

If you need the axle now, clamp it in place till you're done.
