A question on the northern tool trailer

Hi all, I am looking to buy the NTE 5x8 no floor trailer soon and had a question. Can I change the 12" wheels to 15" wheels? Will there be alot of work to do this, is it worth it?

See the discussion elsewhere about putting 15" wheels on a HF trailer. Once you've got the wheels spaced out enough that the wider tyres don't foul the frame or body, the wheel will be overhanging the bearings and that will shorten the life of the bearings. By how much? That's the $64,000 question.

As I remember, the general belief at the end of the other discussion on the subject was, it is much better to either widen the axel, or replace the axel if you want the much larger 15 wheels. So then, if you are going to go to that much trouble/expense, it's a better deal to just build, or have built the frame the way you want it to accept the 15" wheels from the beginning, but that is just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

There appears to be quite a bit of space between the 12 inch wheel and the frame.
bet the 15's would fit with zero offset, of course the fenders have to come off.

I've got the same NT 5x8 trailer, and the way I measured two weeks ago, the 14 inch wheels/tires on my teardrop (shown below) will not fit the NT trailer.

From wheel mounting flange to tire sidewall is 6 inches. On the NT trailer, the flange to trailer frame distance is only 5 inches. My 14's are standard trailer wheels, so I dunno.

FWIW, the teardrop is a 4x8 HF frame with torsion axle.
