what size frame material

Postby Aaron Coffee » Mon Oct 22, 2007 6:54 pm

Am playing with an idea of building a toy hauler/teardrop to haul my scooter (around 400 pounds)when I go camping. What size and thickness tubing should I use for the frame? Am thinking of adding extra bracing and crossmembers. Am thinking this should put me just at right around the right weight for a #2000 axle.
Thanks
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.

I used 2x2 inch .120 wall square tubing for basic frame and single length of 3x3 inch .120 wall square tubing for tongue...

For a larger trailer you may want to consider either 2x3 inch for main frame rail or maybe 1-1/2 x 3 inch channel iron.... The real strength is in the width of the face of the channel (the 3 inch dimension) ...
