Harbor freight help

Postby TimJones » Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:20 am

I need some help. Some where I saw part numbers for bearing and seals for hf trailers. Mine is in the driveway with one hub off and inner race fused to the spindle. Found bearing but need to order seals but need part number. I have try the search function and the index great features but have looked at them for hours, can someone point me in the right direction.
Trailer is small 4x8 990 lbs I think, but I think most also use some bearing and seals. Thanks for any help with this problem.

Hi Tim,

When my bearing went out this summer I posted the same question. Everyone agreed the bearing is 30205 but different part numbers for the seals. Here's the list from that thread. This was for a 1700 lb trailer. The best thing to do is take the old ones with you to the parts store. You could always pull the other side off to get the part numbers.

"The seal is C/R part number 12742 - National Seal # 223255"

"Part number 12745 was also mentioned."

Here is the original thread.

Also I had to grind the old bearing off, it was frozen.

Good luck,
Darren

Hi All,
Tim check out Motion Industries. They have a good web site and you should be able to get a seal number from there.

Your right, the bearings are available, but I don't see the seals.

Here's the bearings:

Well do not like hf online catalog, manual has two different part numbers for grease seals. I could not get inner race removed from spinel filed it down, but never got bearing to go back on. Hub was messed up anyway, bevel race never pressed into hub, i could turn it by hand inside hub. So I am now waiting for new axle and hubs from Northern. Hope to get all fixed by next weekend. So check those bearing.

Best thing you could have done - I did mine last month

The undersized HF axle is junk and depending on anything you can't easily find parts for isn't too wise - Eventually you're going to need to replace things because running little bitty tires with 60 or 80 psi in them really pounds on the axle - After about 10,000 miles, my axle was very slightly bent . . . . enough to wear out the inside edges of a nice pair of 13 inch tires . . . . they were (once) worth more than the axle ;)

I went with a standard size 1 inch axle rated at 2,000 pounds - You can find hubs, bearings and seals for it in half a dozen places even in the smallest of towns . . . . reassuring to know when you're far from home
