Step bumper receiver

Postby Larry C » Mon Jul 04, 2011 7:02 am

Has anyone ever used a step bumper receiver? Here's a link:

My new truck already has a towing step bumper. Would this receiver be good enough to tow a 600# tear? It seems like it should be adequate. A full receiver hitch is $125 plus wiring harness.

Just wondering if anyone has experience using one of these......

Larry, that would work fine...you will probably havvta get a "drop" tow bar for it to keep you tear in the proper attitude for safe towing....

As long as BUMPER is rated for size of your tow and you use quality bolting materials (grade 5 minimum)... Why not....

Yes, I have experiance with them. No problems towing a power boat with a Ranger. Actually, it towed just fine on the step hitch, but I wanted to be able to put a reciver mount bike rack on it, so I went with recievr. You should have a 60-120lb tongue weight, %20 being on the rather heavy side, but still reasonable. Your bumper should be able to handle that.
