Frame Build - Avoid Axle Grief

Postby Wishbone_aaa » Mon Feb 06, 2012 4:10 pm

A heads up on axles: If you’re building a frame, make sure that the axle you’re planning to use has the load capacity stamped into it by the manufacturer.

Here in Pennsylvania all specially constructed trailers (home-built non manufactured) must undergo an inspection before it can be titled and licensed. It will not pass inspection without a load certified axle.

Other states may differ. If there is a required inspection, ask the inspection mechanic before you build.

I was ok with my newly purchased axle. Hope this saves someone from grief.
