Northern Tool Torsion Axles?

Postby C-Dude » Wed Aug 01, 2012 10:02 am

Has anyone considered using these in your builds? A number of folks on the Motorcycle trailer towing forums are using them to build out single wheel and dual wheel trailers and I'm considering them on a new concept build based on a miniaturized version of a Benroy to tow behind our PT Cruiser - which has like zero tow capacity

Thoughts? Experiences?

Lots of us are using torsion axles but most are probably Dexter or Flexride axles. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Northern Tool sells one of these brands, perhaps re-branded.

I have a Flexride on my TD and am very happy with it. It's a little heavier and more costly than springs and a simple axle but it mounts very easily and rides very nicely (ie. no need to install shocks...).

Nothing wrong with the Northern tool Axle.

Except that there a fixed setting axle.

The ones for the 4' wide trailers have a few fixed settings.

But the 5' one...the one you would like is set real high.

Makes a trailer look like its on "Stilts". But they do advertize it as a Snowmobile trailer axle?????

That said, I have a 4' Northern Tool Axle on my Trailer.

Happy Trails
