Damn.. I was greasing the inside bearing on a HF hub and broke the the fitting off. Anyone know the size and where I can get a replacement? :x :x

My true feelings...... Don't bother just remove and pack as normal. It gives you a chance to inspect the bearings and repack with the correct amount of grease. The zerks allow you to over pack the bearing as you are guessing at the amount needed.

Just my 2 cents worth !

Any Napa or equal will usually have a replacement type box of mixed sizes to chose from. :)

I broke one of mine, found them readily at AutoZone. However, I like Bob's recommendation a lot...

Either way, you still want to plug the hole so that dirt and moisture don't get in.

Thanks all, I knew I would get some good advice from members of this forum. I plan on taking Bob's advice and repack the the bearings, getting the inside bearings out using the method described in this post viewtopic.php?f=35&t=24508. Then replace the zerk with a new one to keep the dirt and water out.

Thanks again - Tom

Success... :applause: I found replacement zerks at NAPA. The size is 6mm if anyone is interested. I would not recommend using the method I quoted for removing the inter bearings that I reference above on new bearings and hub. It would most likely work fine on worn bearings, but new bearing are too tight and the metal to metal might damage the new bearing. Ended up just using a 1 inch dowel and hammer to remove the bearing and seal, they came out fairly easily. I hope this helps someone else
