Axle Cost

Postby Capebuild » Tue Apr 27, 2021 2:46 pm

Hello,
I've received a quote for a Dexter Axle. I have no experience with this and knowing what a cost for an axle should be. I'm asking if others would be willing to share what their axle round figure cost was, or at least tell me is this price seems fair. I am ordering a #9, 2200# Dexter Torflex Axle with electric brakes, EZ Lube and mounting kit which I'm being quoted in the mid $600 range. Does not include any shipping or taxes. Does this seem like a reasonable price?

Thank you for the help.

John

John, In 2014 I paid $596.74 plus tax for my Dexter axle with brakes but without EZ lube.
I bought it on order from 6 Robblies in Tacoma WA where Dexter shipped it to.
Took several weeks to get it on order.
I understand you can get a better price directly from Dexter.

Thanks for sharing that, Danny. The cost I was quoted was a bit more than what I was expecting. Given your cost in 2014 was fairly close to what I just received......, and accounting for rising costs, inflation, etc., I suppose the cost I received seems comparable.

Thank you again.

I just replaced our Dexter with a Flexride https://www.theuniversalgroup.com/mwdownloads/download/link/id/53/. The Dexter was sagging with age and the Flexride is adjustable. Unless you plan on fording streams do not bother with the grease fitting, they introduce a weak point and will likely lead to too much grease and failed seals.

John,
I just received my #9, 2200# Dexter Torflex Axle down rated to 1800# with electric brakes, EZ Lube and mounting kit on Monday. BTW I ordered it on March 10 so over 6 week wait. I went through Six Robblees.

$878 with shipping cost of $278 included. We don’t pay tax here.

I got my 3500 with 10 inch brakes down rated to 2300 from bend trailers in Oregon. Their shipping is 140, my total was 700 or so. They dont show the number 9 on the website.

full disclaimer they did not know you could down rate axles, and are bad at answering the phone but they are cheaper than anyone else. so give them a try, BUT make sure you clearly specify weight rating and talk to them on the phone.

thank you all so much for the feedback.
Your help and responses have put things into perspective... the pricing I was quoted seems good.

Thanks again.

Search "dexter axle" on Amazon. The prices look to be in this range.
