you'll never know ahead of time where the exact line is between "not overbuilt" and "underbuilt

I believe trailers have been on the road for at least a few years. so it's pretty easy to see what has worked and what hasn't work you need to learn from the history many frames are now built that mine is bigger than yours. it on Facebook so it must be true
look at some of the tent trailers probably the least supported by the box that sets on top of it. Am sure Tent trailers have been around for at least 10 years

Sure, that's part of it. As I've said, there are a hundred frames from folks on this forum that are pretty sturdy. Perhaps the penalty is an extra 50 lbs? Well worth it to me to have peace of mind. I'm confident I could follow Tony back to his campsites without my frame failing.

Go ahead and let us know how your A frame works. I imagine it'll be just fine. You have the experience and knowledge to do that; I don't. I'll accept the larger safety factor.

Quite a few years ago, on this forum, someone had made a laminated wood tongue on his teardrop.
I think he might have had a wood "Y" shaped chassis.
Tried a search and I guess it's too long ago.

Clearly overbuilt is worth it for some, and elegant structural design for others. It a choice.

The one I was talking about wasn’t Roy Nelson’s.
Some of Roy’s was made to look wood but wasn’t.
