Sourcing a 5x8 trailer in Colorado?

I have my tools, my garage, and my intent. What I don't have is a source for a trailer. HF only makes the 4x8 now. NT is too far away and shipping to CO is terrible. Local fabrication shops are asking 2200 for just the frame and fenders. I need a source or I need to learn to weld pronto. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced 5x8 on the front range of Colorado?

Not necessarily a 'source', but I'm at a similar stage. NT was going to be my best option; but I'm somewhat hesitant due to some of the reviews.

My current plan is to buy the material cut to size from Glazier steel, then take it to a welder. I found this guy in North CoSprings, https://tapa-welding-fabrication.negocio.site/
I'm thinking he's small enough to take the job and be reasonable about pricing.

Don't know if you would consider it, but, old pop-up camper chassis are useful for this purpose. Last summer I picked up one for $200 (made back my investment and another $200 selling appliances salvaged from it. Then another, a freebee (which I also sold appliances from and sold the chassis to the guy for about $300). Might be worth looking around. Took me about two days each to demo.

The freebee was built into this by a guy in Marquette, MI (partly finished squaredrop on a 5x9)

It sounds to me as if this moment is a golden opportunity. One that doesn't come along often.

I think you'd be way ahead if you went that direction. People have had luck with the bolt-together frames... but some haven't.

I couldn’t agree more with Tony. My wife and I enrolled together in the Professional Welding course at our local community college and it was a hoot. Although we had no desire to switch careers and become professional welders we learned enough during one term of evening classes that we could easily build a teardrop frame from scratch. Here’s to lifelong learning!
