trailer axle placement

Postby Brankulo » Sun Feb 04, 2024 9:40 pm

finally gathered most of my materials to get the trailer frame going. just wanted to confirm on axle placement, so far i have seen 60/40 recommendation or 60/40 + about 6" towards the back.
my cabin size will be 5x9 plus about 5' long tongue. my solar bank and fridge will most likely live in rear galley, but i will also have decent size tongue box that will see some loads. my bike might sit on the tongue but more likely in the cabin. any advice appreciated.

That 60/40 point on the chassis frame (not the frame plus tongue) will work great for almost any method of loading your camper.

I've had a teardrop with the bike rack on the back, another one with the bike over the tongue box, the battery in the galley, or the battery in the galley. They all towed fine, but that rear bike rack with two bikes hanging out felt a bit "funny."
