Noob - Chicago-land

Hi Everyone,

After lurking for a few days, I decided to join you all. My wife and I are planning to build a tear drop in the near future. Most likely, we will use the Grumman 2 plans as my wife likes the look. However, I need to clear a few toys out of the garage first.

I do have a question though; I found a 1976 Jayco Jay King pop-up camper that's for sale locally. The camper has been stripped of its canvas and appears to be used as a "tailgating trailer" (football games?). The seller is asking $400 which leads me to believe that it has no title (although, I have not inquired). For that price, I'm thinking it may not be a bad purchase for the sink, cook top, fridge, water tank, power inverter and propane tank carrier (provided everything works). After stripping all of the usable stuff, I could sell it as a flatbed, or take it down to the bare frame and go from there.

I would guess that the suspension is leaf spring and the wheels appear to be 12" or 13".

What do you think? TIA, Dave.

With a title, that's a 250 dollar trailer, tops.

Thanks for the replies, I'll see if there's any wiggle room on the price. If not, I'll move on, I'm patient. :D
