Iflyfish Newbie Here. Beaverton, Oregon

Postby Iflyfish » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:16 pm

I just purchased a 2001 Quicksilver Teardrop Lazy Bum. :wine:

I have downsized from my 2006 Winnebago View Motor Home. I hosted a rally for 56 of these rigs from 20 States and 2 Canadian Provinces. I enjoy gatherings of people who share interest and knowledge about their RV's.

I want to learn more about how to upgrade with electricity. In my motor home I installed a Progressive intelli-charger in for my 2 6volt golf cart batteries. This allowed charging from my alternator as well as shore power. I would be interested in what chargers others have installed. The intelli-charger pulses 14 amps to batteries keeping them free of sulfates, which kill batteries. Anyone know of a small one of these? I plan to run a C-pap, LED light and small fan.

There is no tent with my Teardrop and I want one. Any ideas?

I look forward to meeting you guys and appreciate any input I might gather from this august group. I have yet to pursue the links/searches on this site so the questions I am asking may already be there, but thought I'd throw the questions out anyway as a way to start dialogue. Thanks 8)

Welcome from Georgia. I don't have an answer for you electrical but I do have a PahaQue Screenroom and have been quite happy with it on my first two trips with my new to me LG teardrop. They are pricey but mine was included with my purchase so the deal was great. Good luck with your modifications and I'm sure someone has the information you need.....

There are many of us that use the Progressive Dynamics chargers and power centers, they arguably have one of the best reputations in the industry. I run a 150AH Lifeline AGM and a 185W 66 Cell high voltage solar panel into a Morningstar MPPT controller.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I have started to explore in earnest a SUV Tent to attach to the side of my Teardrop.

Thanks for the idea, it got me going on a search that has opened up some alternatives. 8)

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful post. I only vaguely knew these existed. What model to you have? How heavy is it? How small does it compact?

Thanks again. :wine:

Thanks Shadow! I installed a Progressive Dynamics Charger in my Winnebago View and it was the best investment I made, saved me a set of 6Volt deep cycle batteries.

What sort of rig do you have? I am considering installing two deep cycle Golf Cart batteries in parallel with a small footprint Progressive Charger, I would like 30 amp with small footprint.

Thanks again for the info.
