New guy from Southwest Florida

Hi to all,
Thanks for the great forum. I have been lurking the last few months, reading build journals and educating myself for my first build. :)
My wife and I love camping which started when we were in college. We got involved in cub scouts with both our boys and then did the popup camper for 10 years. My back just hurts thinking of the set-up. My wife loves to hike and I love to bike. We have many wonderful memories of summer trips with our 4 kids. I have been looking for other alternatives for camping but did not want to go with a heavy RV but was tired of the popup. We saw a teardrop and I loved the look. My wife gave me the dreaded, it looks like you're sleeping in a coffin response. She has slowly warmed to the idea. Our two oldest are away at school. I plan on having an SUV tent attached to the door for the high schooler and middle schooler and also for my wife to have a more open feel. I bought my Northern Tool 5x8 trailer in May to haul our bikes up to NC for our family tent camping trip. I have been gathering parts for the build and saw dust is starting to fly.

Welcome!

Wow, that's a lot of bikes for one family. Do I count 8 bikes on that trailer? Do you plan on using the same HF for the teardrop or will you be getting another trailer frame?

Keep pictures coming!

My older son and I brought both mountain and road bikes. My younger son, daughter, and wife had their mountain bikes, so 7 for the camping trip. It is a Northern tool 5x8 trailer which I have taken off the bike racks and now will be used for the teardrop. I will start my build journal soon. I'm building a Generic Benroy.
