New guy from western Missouri

Hey guys here is my first post and first thread all at once. I am about an hour south of Kansas City Missouri. I attended a Primitive Skills Meet and Knap-in (Bois D' Arc, by Greenfield MO), this weekend and there were 5 tear drops, and 3 of them were home made. I have admired them for years. Talking to the owners, and looking at the three homemade ones, got me thinking about building one. One of the owners told me about this forum.

I am married, and have a 7 year old daughter, and a 2 year old son. I'd like to build one with bunks for the kids. I looked at a "Campinn 560" online, its a lot of money, but they way it had a queen size bed, and two bunks at the very front of the trailer look very interesting. Also I am 6 ft 6 inches tall. I have looked through the Hall of Fame, and the build thread a bunch. Do any of you guys know of a thread, with a teardrop that has a large bed and bunks for the kids. I am guessing this could be up around 12 foot long. I have a 1/2 ton truck, so I can pull a large tear drop.

I saw where there will be a teardrop get together in Kansas here in a weekend or two, I may try to take my wife and go check them out. It's only about an hour away.

Welcome to the forum I'm 30 miles east of KC...... Went to a gathering last weekend south of Fort Scott Kansas..had a lot of campers their....Good luck in your build....

Thanks, yeah the Campster 12 looks promising and do able. Gonna, try to see some more tears in real life, and see how others with kids are camping. Wonder about building a more standard teardrop with a tent attached to one side for the kids. The Campster is so cool though.

Welcome to great site and yes you can build a tear for 4 peps it might have to be a little longer the most but thats ok as long as you can enjoy it with family

That is a very cool design. I have started a wide generic Benroy design using an old popup trailer frame. My wife went tight with the money, when I started telling her what it would cost to build a trailer for the Campster. Will see how this build works out. Just about have the old popup off the frame, then start getting that trailer ready.

Thanks for the suggestion. Hadn't really looked at it, but it would be a style that serves the same purpose as the Camspter.
