newbie again

Postby rabs » Sun Nov 10, 2013 11:22 am

Hi all, well it,s been a long time since i have been on, moved to a new state, new job etc, had to put grasshopper on hold, the last 2 years have been hell healthwise, bleeding into the colon and flatlining in emergency, got over that then last year 7 months off work after having both knees replaced and my legs straightened, got complications etc etc, so now the good part, back at work and legs now working well enough to start again my dream of building a grasshopper style teardrop of sorts, I have always loved Joannes desert dawg and have read and reread her build a hundred times and still love the look, so here we go again at building a similer camper with I guess my own take on it, I need to do some planning and complete the mig welding of the base then the building begins.

Talk soon :D

Hi Rabs, welcome! (though I am a newby too!)

Good to hear you are getting your health and mobility back. Building your tear drop will be the best possible therapy, getting you active again with some gentle lifting and flexing. So much more rewarding than trips to the gym too. It certainly worked for me :)

I am putting the finishing touches to my TD here in Sydney. One of the biggest chalenges is finding supplies in Australia but there is a growing network.

If I here you right. Don't dwell on the details get it done. So you can enjoy it. I have found the build is fun but the teardrop camping is great. Freedom of the road. Go were you want, stopping anytime and anyplace there isn't a no parking sign . Try to enjoy life.

I agree!
Building is fun if you like to build or create things, you have all the tools, skills, and time required for it.......But, the best part is the camping in it, the meeting of new friends, and the good times that go along with it.
Life is too short!
Get out there man.
Sending you a picture of camping anywhere....even in a campground that is "FULL" you can meet the nicest people out by the dumpster in the "Unauthorized Parking" area! Hey Greg?114160
Look closely at this picture. :wine:

Wow, what an inspirational post. Here I sit, 81 years old, feeling sorry about having occasional leg cramps.........and that is all! And you suffer from a bleeding colon, flat-lineing, 7 months off work, both knees replaced, and legs straightened, plus other complications, and you are finally in good enough shape to buld a Grasshopper/style teardrop........good for you. Wow, hang in there, it looks like you have the right spunk and drive to get-er-done. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing you on the road, sometime in the future.

Only said as Roly can. All I can say is enjoy the journey. Life's too short to look at the negative, embrace the positive and give it all you got.
