Newby - Hi!

Postby mightymidget » Wed Oct 16, 2013 7:53 am

Hi! I'm a newby to the page, and also to TTT camping. Have tent camped for several years in several areas of the country and am looking to upgrade, Have looked at a Vardo (the building process was posted on this page by 'stonykill' back in June), and am considering asking him to build me one. I'd be traveling solo, pulling with a 2003 Saturn Vue with a V-6. I'm making a list of my 'wants' for it but am open to suggestions. Thanks! :)

Welcome!! and upgrade you will, from a tent to teardrop!!! I know this is crazy but I slept in my teardrop 3 nights ago in my driveway. It was a noise test with an old radio. Anyway it is the best !!!! I still love camping at my age (63) and I love being out in the fresh air. My problem is that I can no longer get up and down like I once could and I just can't spend another nite sleeping on the ground. I love my TD!! I built mine with Foam. Very easy build and doesn't leak, will not rot and was very thrifty. Love the people I have met while camping and on here. be sure to drop by the lady teardrops and introduce yourself and let us know about your thoughts on decorating ! Welcome to this crazy world of Teardrops and tiny travel trailers.

OK, so I am bad about looking back at the page. Since first posting I have made the move and 'stonykill' will be building me a 'gypsy wagon'. He is supposed to be picking up the trailer/frame this week. @ Mary, know what you mean about sleeping on the ground, I'm 71 and that's one reason for going to a trailer, even though I won't have a lot of free time to use it for a while. Decorating: I worked out a floor plan, hoping to find enough left over stick-on floor tiles from house project to use for the floor, and also re-purposing some things in the house for it, such as a large very nice cutting board I got hell knows why, but it will make a good counter tip for the 'kitchen' area, a just the right size dresser, and so on. As I said, open to suggestions, already told the builder it's liable to change as I get other ideas.

wow, you work fast. wish you lived close I would give you a "look see" at my little TD. but I can tell you have been doing some reading. Just no matter keep it light as you can Water, and food Ice, extra stuff can add up when you are already heavy so start light then you will not have to worry. keep in touch on the lady tear thread . or just jump in with your questions every one here will be helpful if the can.

Welcome aboard, we are all like minded, love teardropping, meeting new friends, enjoying an evening around the campfire, sharing some delicious dutch oven wonders and sharing our experiences of camping and getting to know folks in the next campsite. Be aware, do not get a trailer that is too heavy for your tow vehicle to handle. The lighter the better, especially if towing up and down mountain grades and passes. Take advantage of all of what we have to offer, there is no other better camping site on the web.
:D 8) ;) Roly, the li'l ol' woody TD guy in So Calif.
