New member from Sydney, Australia

Hi all,

Thanks for letting me in. I have already learnt a lot from TnTTT and can see there is a vast pool of knowledge and experience here.

I don't see many teardrops here in Aus but wanted to get out and about and combine it with my love of classic cars (I am a Citroen nut!) so what better way than a teardrop? I have based my build on the 1947 Mechanix Illustrated article blended with masses of tips picked up on line, and now have my TT to lock-up/ tow-able stage but have lots more work to do yet before I am finished.

I put some photos of my build so far in my personal gallery. Very amateur looking compared to what I have seen on this site but hey, it is my first try! :D

Are there any other Australian members here?

Michael,

Welcome aboard.
We are resident in Esperance Westoz.
Built our Tear about two years ago.
It is basically set up for short trips. Two to three days.
Very happy with it.
Never owned a Citroen but have to admit they have always been of interest. Your Tear is looking good, post some more pictures.

Take it easy.

RD :)

Hi michaelrsydney,

Welcome to the forum. You're doing a great job on the TD.
The tow vehicles are great - I'm a Citroen fan too. Unfortunately
they haven't had a US presence since the mid 1970's.

Enjoy yourselves camping and finishing it out.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

Thanks Roo Dog, you are not far away from me then? :) Sydney to Esperance is only 3,500 km! (Same as LA to Atlanta!! )

Thanks everyone for the welcomes.

Michael,

If my endeavor looks only half as good as yours, I'll be happy. Nice job...

Thanks Glen. Have you got permission to start your build yet? :) It seems the new members, and new builds, are coming thick and fast on this forum.

It looks like the bug has bitten in Australia too as there is more and more online activity. I have joined the Australian group on Yahoo, thanks Paul.

I made a little progress today with electrical work plus a rain gutter over the side doors. The timber sides were looking very dull before but lights and aluminium trim certainly helps.

A bit of an update. Just picking away at the finishing touches and hoping for some time to get out and camp!

I did a little more interior fit out including a stereo and 12 volt and USB outlets. The "Wiley" windows are almost done but still need fly screens and I have refined my low-tech hatch strut. A twenty watt solar panel and charge controller should be adequate for a few LEDs and the radio. (No fridge or inverter)
