Back Again

Postby Nesandhills » Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:38 am

A couple years back I was thinking of doing a tear drop, now plans are in the early stage. A buddy and myself plan to do Alaska in 2015 via driving :? , and using a tear drop all the way. I'm out of Nebraska. So back here for the great ideas and support.

Welcome Nesandhills !!!

I have a friend that took his TD to Alaska for two months, we eventually want to do a trip like that some day.

What part of the Sandhills? I try to get up in that country whenever I can. I like fishing at the Valentine refuge lakes and camping at Halsey. Anywhere near that?

Welcome back, aboard. Wow, after 2 years of thinking, planning and now actually about to start a build, congratulations. I hope the roads to Alaska are being improoved, I beleive some of them are gravel, due to the perma-frost. How about it, Alaska TDers, what shape is the highway in now?

I think the "old Alcan" is no more. I've heard it's all paved now, but I have not driven it for thirty years. Bon voyage.

For trips driving then alcan look for the "Alaska milepost" it tells you how to prep and what is at each mile marker on the way. We drive up in 1975. My parents and 3 kids in a 1972 ford van. That was an adventure, I have also heard its all paved now.
