Hello from Tennessee

Postby James06 » Wed Mar 26, 2014 9:38 pm

Hello from Kingsport, Tn which is about 100 miles from Knoxville and near the Bristol Motor Speedway for Nascar fans. I just ordered a 7x12 Homesteader Patriot with plans of making a toy hauler. I am in the Christian Motorcyclists Association, so I do a few rallies every year. My wife cannot ride long distances on the bike, so we trailer it to the ones far away. I used to use a mesh bottom trailer and sleep in a tent, but finally convinced her to try to make our own toy hauler. At 50 next month, I am getting too old to sleep on the ground in a tent!

Thank you. Hopefully the trailer will be here soon. Thinking about adding electricity, some shelves and/or cabinets in the front, then who knows from there? :?

Bought my Homesteader Aerodyne from down your ways. Happy with the trailer so far. Good quality and lots of possibilities. Welcome to the group.

Well, I'm still waiting on the trailer. 2 weeks into a 4-6 week backlog. I don't have any patience whatsoever! I've been looking at all the posts so I am getting all kinds of ideas, but no trailer to work on. I got some 2 part epoxy floor paint that was left over at work, so that will be the floor coating. We plan on taking the dog with us, so that should take care of accidents if they happen. I bought a couple of cots from SAMs, and am still trying to make up my mind about the power converter. I found an Atwood 55 amp online for about $100 new, and a Parallax 55 amp for $100 used locally. I have read where several people have had issues with WFCO, but haven't really seen any negative comments about Atwood or Parallax. From my memory about past camping stuff, Atwood is a generally dependable brand for boats and RVs. I also found 3 oak cabinets at a local close out store for $25. They are wall cabinets, but I plan to use them as baSe cabinets for a countertop in the V.
