Hello from the Adirondack Mountains of NY

Postby David LaPell » Mon May 12, 2014 6:01 pm

Hello from the Adirondack Mountains here in NY. I have a love affair with tear drop trailers but have not exactly had the wherewithal and tools to build one. I am hoping to maybe get one built but am not the greatest carpenter. I can do a few things but this would be the most adventuresome project I have undertaken so I am going to be searching for plans and details of one to haul behind my 74 Ford F-100 pick up truck.

Hi David, sometimes we pull ours with a '76 Ford 4 wheel drive pickup. You should stop by the ADK tearup at Fish Creek first weekend of June ( 6th & 7th) to get some ideas. We're not bringing the pickup though, 4 hour ride for us and that 390 sucks too much gas.

Hi David,
I am from the Adirondacks (Saratog Spgs) from many years back and cannot wait til I can camp out there again. I was up there last October and was reminded how beautiful it was there.

Welcome to the forum and I look forward to watching your progress.

Welcome David !!! I hope to be up your way in about 3 years for my up north big trip. if you have few tools can I suggest a a quick list? A saw to cut 2x4's if you build above the wheel wells. A saw to cut ply wood, a sharp knife or electric meat knife to cut foam, a putty knife and a paint roller and a pair of scissors and wood skewers. You see I built mine out of foam. Check out the foamie section. You might see something there you like. Welcome!!!
