Hello Everyone,
I've been looking through the site for a while now and finally decided to start my own project. I'm starting off with a cargo trailer I already owned that I've had for a few years. When I purchased it there was never a thought of doing anything like this, if I had I might have done some different things but I own it now so... The trailer is a 5x8 short cargo from I believe it's Allstate, but I could be wrong. My family is not the tallest so the height is not hat big of a deal. More headroom than a teardrop but less than a full height CT. My goal is to build a off-road style family trailer that can go where I want to go. It's not going to be decked out with ton's of electric, maybe just enough to run a couple lights, a ceiling mounted vent fan, and probably a flip down TV/DVD player for the little man.

I've already tore out the interior, purchased a couple 36x24 slider windows for $25 a piece. Just picked up a 42x26 RV access door with a keyed lock. I needed to get those so I can weld in some bracing before I could move ahead with anything else. I have already flipped the axle to gain a little bit more height because I'm going to be running the same wheel and tire combo I run on the jeep so I don't have to carry another spare. I just need to pick up a couple wheel adapters and a couple tires so I can get the spacing for the running boards that I plan to run around the front and both sides.

For the interior the plan is to build a bench on either side with on side being able to flip over to the other side to form a sleeping platform. As for the little man he will have a bunk in the front that goes side to side elevated above the main sleeping platform. The rear door is a full size side swing out door, so the plan is to cabs that will go across the bottom section so that they sit a few inches above the main sleeping platform making kind of a headboard of sorts that you can sit stuff you may need at night or first thing in the morning.

So that's the plan for now. Thanks everyone for the ideas, I'm excited to get this thing started and hope to start a build thread soon. Oh and by the way my name is Ryan.
