Good day!
Yep, I have been lurking and reading throgh this great site for over two months. You guys and gals have some great creations and crafsmanship!
A little about myself: My bride and I have been camping for the last 30 years. We started with a pup tent, graduated to a truck camper,a Chalet A-frame trailer, a 21foot fifth wheel, and now are contemplating a teardrop We like to boondock. Moving back to a simpler camping unit is definitely a change in thinking, but the teardrop concept seems practical and simple.
I am also a home woodworker who is particular regarding fit and finish.
I have been pondering aspects of a teardrop build, and have settled on a frame size of 5x10. I am 6'2" and would appreciate the bed length while having room for the back kitchen. I found a suitable trailer frame with a deck size of 5.5x10'. Before I "dive in", commiting myself the the project, my primary concern and question would be: Can you get aluminum roof skin in 5.5' widths, and is there a way to skin the inside ceiling without obvious seams since the thin ply comes in 4x8 sheets? These may be "no brainer" questions, and I don't want to get caught up on details, sort of can't see the forrest for the trees scenario, but I do. Any input would be of great appreciation!
Regards,
Scott
