Looking to Build, From MT.

Postby Sporty Modder » Sun Aug 03, 2014 11:32 am

Good morning ladies and gentlemen. I have been lurking for a couple of weeks now and decided to join this little forum. I am new to this forum but not to forums in general. I especially like the no flaming rules, some of the other forums I am on can get a little ruff. I use a 7" tablet for all of my website cruising and its 5mp camera uploaded to photo bucket then transfered here.

My name is Daniel and my wife's is Sharlie.
A good picture of us...
Image My dogs are Porsche, Ferrari, and Leia. P and F are Lab/German Sheppard and are from the same litter, and Leia is a Cairn Terrier/Terrorist
Look for the shadowy dog in the back...

And the princess..

ImageWe have decided to sell our Mobile home and go rent/utility free within the next couple of years. Yes I want to live in a Tiny Travel Trailer. I would like to have my Ttt built within a year, by the end of next summer.
The plan.
I own a 8x10 utility trailer I want to convert into the travel trailer extend it 2ft and ad some luxuries of home. It has a 3500 lb axle and is built with 2 inch angle iron. The tow rig is my 1996 B4000 5 speed 4x4 rated @4000 lb tow rating. I plan on keeping the trailer around 2000lbs unloaded(its built heavy).
Construction.
Going for a semi aero, light weight walls/roof with 1\8" ply and 1 1\2" foam covered with fabric (drop cloths?) coated in titebond 2. Rear door, front queen bed, removable 2burner stove, refrigerator, led lighting and simple 110 power. We would like a toilet on board, but a shower will probably not be, so fresh water, grey water and sewage tanks are needed, links for cheap? Dual battery's and eventually a solar array for charging.

More about me in upcoming posts...

For some reason this forum cuts off the photos on the right side, weird.
I thought photo bucket knocked the photos to the desired size for this forum.
I really have to set up my profile.
Sorry for the random thoughts.
On to the plans.
I drew these with a ruler and pencil 1" =2' and penciled in some dimensions of the original trailer.

Welcome to the forum. I like your plan ( for living in the tiny trailer ) and you plan for the trailer. I used drop cloths from harbor freight and titebond ll on the interior walls of our tear ( I shamelessly stole the idea from Kat and Sam who used it on the outside of their tear ) and it works great. Please keep us posted as to your progress. Lee

Hi Daniel and Sharlie, I really like your idea of living with a small footprint. For me, a TD would be too small but there are sites for small houses that I really like. CA has building requirements that would make the idea impractical but who would care in MT? I have family in Lima Mt and it was awesome the last time I was back. If it's posted it's not really stealing, but people do like to get credit for good ideas shared.
Enjoy, Chris
