Hello from Calgary

Postby Shar » Fri Mar 07, 2014 10:19 pm

I have been hanging around the site for some time now, while planning a small travel trailer which I will start building as soon as all that darn snow is gone! The trailer frame is currently sitting in our living room (minus wheels). I have built a couple of little sheds on my property, but this will be my first trailer. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the welcome! I don't have a garage, so I'm building mine in the back yard (I notice others have done this) and there will be a flurry of carpentry going on as soon as the weather is warm enough for glue to set. I want to use the trailer this summer, so I have a bit of a deadline. :D Should be fun.

Welcome to the forum.

Building on a deadline bits but you can do it. If you leave you galley plan and simple it will speed up your build. A lot of builders go camping in there teardrop befor really finishing out the galley. It help you get an idea of what you can build in or leave our. Like I have a little sink, I never use it. GL on your build and start a build thread when you starting to make the saw dust.

Vedette and Junkboy, thanks for the welcome! I didn't notice that you had responded to my message till today. I am indeed planning to get just the basic structure done by July, not all the fine details (which, I gather, sometimes take the rest of people's lives) :) . And once the trailer is done, I will be keen to attend events like those described. I also have a question. If I want to share photos of the build process, how is this done? Do I create a new thread, or just put photos in my gallery? This website is so big and complex, I feel like I'm in another country. Thanks again!

I created an Album here to download my pictures from the "My Pictures" area of my computer.
From there I can transplant any picture from my Album into the text of any post.
Or
Those TnTTT members who wish to see my build from start to finish, can just click on my album icon in any of my posts and go into my Album.
Not being very computer literate this worked the best for me......and I didn't have to start a thread in the build section of this Forum
I still have not figured out how to get a picture of Miss Piggy in the rotating Gallery at the top of this page? :?

PS We look forward to meeting you guys once you are camping with your TD.

Brian, the rotating gallery is the "hall of fame". Click on the link at the top of the forum and there is a link "add to hall of fame."

Thanks Debbie
But I have been trying to put a picture of Miss Piggy on the Hall of Fame for over a year!
Just can't figure it out??
Where is Gage when I need him?
Now it shows In have two blank spots with the name Miss Piggy under them with a red "Edit" displayed.
But when I hit edit an entire box of gobbldgupp comes up??
Very Frustrating!

Hi fellow calgarians,
I'm returning to this project after an 8 year hiatus LOL. In 2006 I built the trailer and had it registered and insured as a flatdeck. Then I got distracted and sat on the project for too long. 3 weeks ago I threw myself back into the project. Here's where it's at today. Based on generic benroy plans.
Looking forward to connecting with some locals.
Blair

Welcome aboard, from south of the border in So Calif. You new builders have a real teardrop friend up there in Canada. Vandette (Brian) is a real builder, and recently even set up a campground for you guys to use at his farm. If at all possible, be sure to make it to his next gathering, which will be advertised here on the board. Good luck on your build.
