New guy 75% through first build

Postby duncanmcginnis » Mon May 25, 2015 7:40 pm

I'm a new poster, but I have been studying many tiny campers here for some time. I am about 75% done with my first build. Door and windows should arrive this week. This picture is only with walls up. It has roof and the inside ceiling has been insulated. I will put up a build log when I figure out how. 8)

I started mine back in 2012. Got it 75% done and pulled it cross country. Now 3 years later, I would say its 90% done. It was 95% done last year, but I have more I want to do to it now. :D

I am beginning to see how 100% might not ever be achieved. But that's part of the fun.

Finally closing in on completion. Installed AC today, will finish trim this week and paint soon thereafter.

I'm do glad I found this thread! I'm looking for plans and since it's my first one I want it very simple...no curves. Would love to see more pics, plans, etc...

Done! (Mostly). But I see how this project will never be totally complete, at least until I sell it and start another one.

Nice looking camper.

Is that top flat where it meats up with the front angled piece, or do you have some trim up there that might stop water? On thing you don't need is water collecting on a flat roof. Water can collect on the top of that bottom trim around the camper as well. I good bead of sealant, a slightly beloved top surface or a long piece of triangle stock glued in there might help hold off water collection.

Let us know how the first trip goes :)

Here is the inside, should have mounted the AC higher up too. The top is curved slightly. Every joint, and seam is sealed with Bondo, two coats of primer and three coats of paint. I may paint the top with something like Plasti-Dip or spray on bed liner. Most likely I will save those design elements for the next one.

Nice almost exactly what I want to do.
Where did you get the side windows?
Do you think the ac will survive the shock of road bumps?
Thinking of bracing mine with high density foam like on sleeping bag mats...
