New to the Forum.. introductions and whatnot

Postby Mr_T_68 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 1:20 pm

Hello all,

I am obviously new to this board. Im looking to design and build a trailer that I can take camping. My parents, brother and sister all have RV trailers and I am the last man kicking up a tent and laying in the dirt. So I am looking to start a build this winter.

Really all I need is a bed and a toilet on wheels. The rest I will still do outside. Cooking and whatnot. and AC/Heat of course.

I really like the idea of a teardrop, but Im 6'4" 330 lbs so size is always an Issue.

Ive settled on more of an A-frame popup style. Im currently working on my plans. Ordering a trailer kit next week after pay day.

Anyways, I will be posting on here and reading your guys' stuff for inspiration.

Have a great Monday!

Welcome to the forum. Ours is a 6X10 Grasshopper design that accommodates my 6' 3" some what fluffy Plus I have a wife. We have a queen size mattress with some additional room at the bottom of the bed. We have a porta potty we have yet to use as all of the camp grounds have facilities. If it were only me I would go with a five wide but stick with the ten foot.

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the thread ...
:shake hands:

My brother and I drove several hours to get to a spot in the boonies (4x4 required) , got caught on a heavy rain and ended up sleeping in an old K-5 Blazer ... A miserable start ... After that trip I decided, like most of us, to make a simple wish list with contingencies built in ...
I ended up going with a cargo trailer conversion; I used two heavy duty cots, added a small galley (In case I got caught in the rain again), and use a porta-toilet if needed ... It all works and meeting one's requirements is the important issue ...
8)
I wish you the best on your build ...
  :pictures: :pictures:
Happy Camping & Building,
John (JC)
