Small Trailer for 4

Postby harrell79cj5 » Thu Jan 07, 2016 4:47 pm

I am going to be builing a small trailer that will sleep 4. Not my first time building and designing things, but my first travel trailer. I will mostly be a lurker and getting information from other's builds. Dimensions will roughly be 6.4W x 10'L X 4.5'H including a 1.5' galley on a 12' trailer with a 2ft open space on the fron for gear. Sketch attached. Two smaller bunks are elevated to create storage as well as seating and will have a fold down table that goes where the middle bed is using those n=bunks as the seats. Sleeping will be parallel to the axle.

Hi harrell79cj5, welcome to the site... :applause:

You have an interesting idea and have a plan on paper... I am curious whether you have tried to mock up your plans; the reason I ask is that the inside height seems tight to be sitting up to a table?

Just curious and good luck with your build and keep us posted on your build with posts and pics...

Yes I did some mock up on that portion. Thats why I went 4.5' instead of 4'(which would work better with wood sizes and keep it lower). The benches/bunks are only 12" tall, which will make a for not as comfortable seating but it will really only be to play games etc if it is nasty weather. Thanks for looking and I am sure there will be many things that change once I start building.

And will you be comfortable with the mattress being in the doorway access?

Yes, the matress will only be foam that can be rolled out of the way. I figure 90% of the time we will just be crawling in to go to sleep anyway.
