Greatings from Galena

Postby MIB66 » Thu Nov 19, 2015 11:17 am

I've been Lurking a while and decided it is time to make some posts.

Hi, my name is David, and I own a teardrop.
Seems my addiction started about a year ago. I started off buying a newly built tear from a hobby builder. Over the pat year I have discovered many things I didn't like or needed to change about my tear. I have changed and added several things (like gas struts for the hatch and new lights). Then reality set in. To have the trailer I want, I need to design and build my own. So after several weeks teaching myself how to use Autodesk Fusion 360 I have gotten pretty far along.
I'd love to get feedback on what I've done so far.
I look forward to being part of this great community.

David

Hi David
Welcome to the Forum.
There is some great information here that will save you both time and money.
Don't be shy! ;) Remember there are no "stupid questions", just questions that need answers.
Where is Galena????

Brian and Sandi ,
Galena is in Illinois. It is one of the top 13 small towns in the US to visit. It is the home of President U. S. Grant.

Woodbutcher,
You wouldn't happen to be at the "Farmhouse"?

Hello David from East off you in Janesville, Wis. looks like you are off to a good start with your design. Sometimes its just better to start from scratch and make your own exactly like you want it. I used to run combine down there by Blanding Landing and the Savanna army depot a few years ago, cool hilly area over by the Mississippi river.
Have fun making sawdust,
Paul

Anyone know where to get 1/8" ply around here? My whole build hinges on this answer.

How many sheets are you looking for? I can get 5X5 sheets 1/8th " from OWL hardwood in Des Plaines IL. Not sure on the price. You could call and talk to them and I can bring it out some week.

Woodbutcher,
I may take you up on the offer. I have to decide where I'm building and assembling this thing, here in Galena or in Rock Island. And my list of lumber grows. Unless you know of any problems I was going to skin the headliner and roof with 1/8" wigglewood.
