Hello from CT

New here, Been dreaming of a trailer to make traveling a little easier. Saw a TC Teardrop the other day and fell in love with the teardrop concept.
After researching the off-road tear drops I cannot drop 10k or more on one. I need to build one. So here I am.

I will be doing a lot more research before I undertake the task of starting to build one.
First issue is frame. May try to use an old military trailer. Or try to make one or pay someone to make one for me.
Being 6'5" I will need some space to stretch out.

Hello sikocycles,
Welcome to the Forum!!!

Have you researched the build plans in this forum and galleries... many are off-road and size can almost always be adjusted? The good part about building your own is that you can construct what you want and as much as the budget allows... then build some more :applause:

Good luck on the build... :applause: :applause: :pictures: :pictures:

What do you plan to do with the trailer... long distance camping or something you can just get away for a weekend once in a while?? What are you going to pull it with; some of the military trailers are heavy enough to carry a tank!!

I found some 1940 plans for an old 12 foot Terra-Cruiser (The trailer "box" is 12' with an OAL of 14') that is a stand-up trailer with a height of about 6'-2" ... the plans are of a very rustic build with an inside galley, but with an idea, a person can build... ;) ;)

I would modernize the build; it would be a cute build... 8)

Right now I have an FJ Cruiser and next year a new Tacoma. Most of the camping will be base camp stuff while mountain biking in VT and NH but we would like to do extended trips farther away. We would like to do a cross country trip eventually.
