New San Diego CT wanna be builder

Postby PaulzOx » Mon Mar 21, 2016 2:16 pm

Hey Everyone,

I have always wanted to build my own camper/toy hauler and stumbled across this forum. So glad I did.

Me: active duty in the Navy, live in San Diego and of course can't fit a full size anything (camping trailer) in my drive way. So I am looking at build a CT.

I own a V6 4Runner 4x4 and I am trying to decide on a V 6x12 or V 7x12. Does anyone have any experience on pulling either with a similar vehicle?

New San Diego CT wanna be builder

Postby Padilen » Mon Mar 21, 2016 6:25 pm

I had a 08 Jeep Liberty when I towed my 7x12 x7 home. Empty weight was 1550, all aluminum my KK towed it fine. If I'd kept it mirrors would need extensions. And I would have added mechanical fan. But it got replaced with a pickup with a power driver's seat that I needed.
My build is Its sort of mine. Low budget simple non fancy CTC. I'll be looking for your build. Good luck.

Hi Paul, welcome aboard. You may not know it, but this coming weekend, Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun, they are having the largest teardrop gathering you will ever see. Head on North to Lake Perris, and you will be able to meet scores of teardroppers, check out their rigs and make a bunch of new friends. I'll be there with my little woody, look me up, I'm the guy with the wooden satelite dish on the roof. If you miss this event, you will have missed a chance of a life time, that will help you with your build.
:D 8) ;) Roly, the li'l ol' woody TD guy, 70 miles north of you just off the 215 in Wildomar.....come by and see me.

Big Thanks to Rocky5000100 for answering my question about towing with a V6 4Runner I pulled the trigger on a 7x12x7. Here she is the day I towed her home.
