After an unexpected divorce, I left Oregon, its rising real estate prices and its endless rains behind and landed here in Alamogordo, on the fringe of the Chihuahuan desert at the very foot of the Sacramento Mountains. There are amazing things to see in virtually every direction, and my Subaru Forester is rated to tow 1500 pounds. I am currently envisioning a simple tear-drop build on a Northern Tool 5 X 8 trailer. If I keep the cabinetry to a super minimum in keeping with my minimal skills and get a little help with wiring, I think I can pull it off. I find the designing and imagining almost as much fun as the actual build on a project. Here's to a Dixon Ticonderoga No. 2, a ruler, and a pad of graph paper!

FYI Roof curves are easier then angles. Will seal better too.

Enjoy, spent time in Las Cruses, lots around to see. Went to Cloud Croft last year, 70 degree's, elk, deer, dropped down to desert floor and White Sands 95 degree. Don't forget the balloon festival. ( & don't let the culture/climate shock get ya)

I skimmed your post and thought Dixon Ticonderoga No. 2 was the name of your camper. I thought what a great name! Then reread the post.

KennethW is right about curves not hard at all, just make sure you can source 1/8" Baltic Birch.

Thanks for the welcome, folks. I was briefly on here six years ago -- my original join date showed up when Mike reactivated my account with a new screen name and password.
I'm not afraid of curves, having built a couple of boats some years ago with marine plywood and some the Gougeon Brothers' early WEST epoxy. I am just fooling around with the sketches at this point, letting the ideas and questions bubble up. I realize there is a rich tradition of using curved surfaces in designing tiny trailers. I find both radiused and sharply angled shapes equally appealing, kind of like a DC-3 vs. an F-117 -- so much to admire in both.
I had to google PMF to figure out that it did not stand for Punjab Medical Faculty ...
