Praying mantis (as opposed to grass hopper)

Postby Rem » Sat Nov 04, 2006 1:14 pm

Hi everyone.
I'm entertaining a design idea similar to a grasshopper. First of all I am a photographer/artist so I plan to use my little trailer as a mobile studio complete with photo equipment storage, laptop, printer, projector etc. Also included will be special equipment such as air purifier, medicine chest, electric scooter and various other things for my wife and my medical needs. Lots of storage for things like camp chairs, screen house, guest tent will be incorporated. The theme I plan to use is star trek as the trailer will resemble the shuttle craft Gallileo. A skylight over the sleeping area, mirrored sliding entry doors or possibley a rear door, a large fron window that can double as a rear projection movie screen and lots of insulation with out side shower and porta pot. I already have a good boat trailer i'm stripping down and I have two folding foam chairs from the 70's and 80's to use inside as bed. Kitchen of course will be under the hatch in back. There appears to be a little room under the deck and above the axle for hidden storage. Any good comments or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Most of the things mentioned here we already own. Keeping the cost down is a goal along with new innovative ideas and entertainment.

Roger, Looks like you have a good plan going for you. I am sure you will be able to use all of your ideas in your ttt. Our ttt was build with a plan for Ruby's limited mobility and to be able to carry an electric scooter or wheel chair.(pics in album) The beauty of a ttt is that it can fit it to your own needs and taste. Please show us pics when you can. I don't have any ideas for you yet but will look forward to seeing what you plan. Be sure to look at all of the great trailers in the hall of fame.  Ed

Welcome Roger and Family,
You have a good beginning plan. I will eccooooo Eds thoughts. His TTT is fantastic and not real big.

If you are planning lots of stuff the under bunk storage will work great for you. Just remember to plan on paper where all that stuff will end up or you may loose something in the build you really want.

Good luck

I have my windows and the frame is almost ready. I found some 5 ft wide birck plywood and treated 2x for framing of the deck. I found 4 old bus windows that will work perfectly on the praying mantis. They are quite thin (about 1 inch) and already tinted. All the mechanisms work
