we built a 5x10, basically a full size bed, just a tad longer. in fact that's what we have in there, a full size bed mattress. To test out the size, we did a mock up in cardboard. We used cardboard mock ups through out our build to test out where the cabinets go before we did them in wood. Remember if you build it yourself you can do whatever you need to do to make it comfortable for you. 2 doors are a good idea.
