Newbe from NY State planning to build

I'm finally ready to start construction. Has anybody used the Harbor Freight Trailers? It is less expensive that the Red Trailers and shipping is less.

Welcome Nortz,

If you look at the top of the page under "Design Library" there is one called Harbor Freight Trailer. I think quite a few people here have used them. Check out some albums.

Hope you enjoy the forum and ask questions. Hope you have fun.

Finntec lives in Syracuse & built a Cubby (I believe) on a Harbor Frieght trailer.

Maybe he would be willing to show you his

Cheers,

Welcome Nortz!!

Yep, alot of people are using the HF trailer for tear building. I gave up on building my frame and went with the HF trailer. For me it was just a matter of saving a little time and money.

Also, get ahold of Steve Frederick, he's in upstate New York and sells a builders manual if you are interested.

Hey I've got family in Syracuse!!

Nortz, every time I build a teardrop, Harbor Freight trailer comes to mind. The first one was built on a HF trailer and so was the last one. As a matter of fact every single tear I have built was bolted to a HF trailer. (However, I have only built 2 of them so far.) :-)

You are right, they are cheaper and can be ordered and delivered from HF in just a couple of days. Once you have bolted it together, slapped a floor on it and raised some sides and roof, you have already built a teardrop, now all you have to do is finish it.

Hope you will find us helpful and can answer all of the questions you may ask. Check out the many construction pics as well as the Hall of Fame, and you will get plenty of ideas. Welcome to the boad and good luck on your build.

Can't help with the Harbor Freight question, but wanted to say hello. I'm in Rochester. I've been in contact with a forum member from Syracuse and I"m hoping to be able to join them for a fall weekend ... although I'm still waiting for details. I'll be in my cargo-trailer conversion. I also have a pop-up shell which I haven't decided what to do with yet.

The Fall Teardown at Nick's Lake is the weekend of Sept. 7-9...information is in this thread:
http://www.tnttt.com/viewtopic.php?t=18136

Unfortunately, the 7th is my sister's 50th birthday, with a family party on Friday night and a big surprise bash on Sunday afternoon. If I am able to bail on one of the celebrations, it will probably only be for a day. Family obligations had me tied up for the early summer gatherings, too...but ya gotta prioritize.

Thanks. I was just starting to piece this all together. I figured out today that we already have plans that Friday night, but if it's possible to go, I'll just have to cancel those plans. ... more later, in the appropriate thread.
