Hi all, newbie here

Postby jamesm » Mon Sep 03, 2007 3:10 pm

Hey everyone. I am building my first teardrop trailer. I have rebuilt an older 13" travel trailer before, but this is new to me. I have an old trailer frame that I put an insulated floor on already. The floor is 10'X 4'6". I hope to build the teardrop on the cheap since I have some material on hand and am resourceful.

I looking forward to all the help, comments and questions.

Thanks,
James

Building on the cheap and being resourceful is good

I've used a lot of salvaged and used items on my tear, and it's fun to see where you can save a buck (that will probably be spent on fuel  ).

Welcome. Cant wait to see some pictures. I'm sure you will find alot of good parts for your TD. I found some great buys myself. A work of advise, don't scrimp on running wire to multiple places for a future fan, 12 volt outlets, etc.

James, in order for you to get some good ideas and meet some neat people, you should check out the gathering that is taking place at Montana De Oro State Park, near San Louis Obispo. It's happening on the 13th to 16th of this month. Over 35 trailers will be there, from all areas of California.
You are welcome to look all you want, bring a sleeping bag and sleep on a picnic table.........

Roly, planning to head North to SLO in just 9 more days, see you there.

Hello from SLO

Postby Esteban » Tue Sep 04, 2007 12:33 am

James, Welcome! :)

Hello from another newbie in SLO. Chris and Dan, "Italia", live in Orcutt near you. They're helping me organize the upcoming SLO Gathering at Montana de Oro campground starting Thursday Sept. 13 through Sunday morning. About 35 teardrops and tiny trailers will be there. At least come up for a day to look around. If you can camp overnight I'll try my best to find room for you...easiest if you camp in a tent...may still be possible if you bring a trailer.

Look below in the South West forum for more information on the SLO Gathering. I haven't publicized it outside of the T&TTT forum.

Thanks for the invite guys. I will do my best to at least come by and say hello. Maybe while I am there I can snap some pics of the TDs to help inspire me.

Image to the playground James. Cheap is good and resourceful is better. Look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Please remember the pictures as they pacify the MadOne, the Aussie and keep the bubble oil level. :R ;)

Welcome James,

Glad you found us, but you may not be. Teardroppin' is an addiction for which there is only one cure. Build, build, build, make lots of sawdust and take lots of pictures. But when you get done, you will get that extraordinary feeling. The feeling that the next one you build will be better.

Enjoy yourself, ask questions and post pictures of your build. And as Aunti M would say, gitRdun.
