Ready For the Next Step (Tired of Zippers)

Postby Dandy » Mon Sep 10, 2007 2:07 am

Hello Everyone,

What a great forum and resource!

Well after many, many years of tent camping, my wife and I are ready for the next step. We want to extend the “camping season” and we are also just plain tired of zippers! Being a crafty sort, I have decided to build a Widget (we’re also tired of bending over). I hope it won’t be too much of a leap of faith - I have some experience in trailer building (I built a small cargo trailer to haul our camping gear – see below).

I’m in the research / parts gathering stage right now (found a great RV surplus place in Elkhart, IN) and have been pouring over a lot of the really good stuff in this forum. When I get to the hands on stage I’ll post some picts. Oh, boy.

Dave

to the playground Dave and family. If I can do it most people can. Trick is to remember to use the camera ;) Yes I know that is strange but if you have a question it is just better illustrated a picture. Besides they keep the bubble oil level. 8)

Enjoy

Dandy , good luck with your build. I went to the RV Salvage place in Elkhart also. I camped for the weekend there. I was like a kid in a candy store, very cool place. Have fun!!!

Welcome to the forum...

From the looks of your cargo trailer you should do just fine with the Widget build... looking forward to following your progress.

Check out BONTRAGERS on US12 in White Pigeon, MI --- west of Sturgis MI. Great place to rummage around on a Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for the tip Philip. I'm not finding the radiused windows I want - maybe they'll have something. Regardless, it's not that far and probably will be worth the trip.
