Hello from Plano, Texas

Postby Stephen M (Ethesis) » Sat Oct 27, 2007 9:45 am

I used to camp a lot, and got started again, and my wife said what we really needed was a camping trailer to carry our gear. I was looking around and remembered some tear drops and next thing you know I found this place.

I've been looking for reviews and comparisons of the various plans and such from the legitimate vendors. Can't seem to find that, but I appreciate all the information I've been finding.

I'd be glad for anyone pointing the way for me.

Good Morning Stephen,

Glad you decided to join us. When you signed up yesterday, I Google'd the word ethesis and low and behold, looks like there is a guy with your name that has a blog. Wouldn't know him would you? Interesting stuff.

As far as building trailers or even buying trailers, you are at the right place. To get some ideas on what you want, you might want to check out the "Design Library" at the top of this and every page. Anyway. good luck in your search, and I will see you around.

To the playground Stephen M. Riches list above http://www.mikenchell.com/tttt.pdf contains a list of plans and the Generic Benroy is a full set that work for almost every profile with some modifications. Also, as Mike said the Vintage plans provide a good variety of plans.

Enjoy

Stephen;
I'm just south of Dallas in Venus. Let me know if I can help you or you can help me. Found a place in Dallas/Irvine that has trailer building supplies just off of LBJ/183.

Not sure I understood, are you looking to build one or buy one.
Either you probably can find here, several members build for sale.
THe build resources are unreal on here as far as Ideas etc.
My Idea of plans are a tape measure, a saw and a dream.

Stephen,

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know that anyone has ever done a review of the various plans. But it seems to me you'd buy the plan that has the features you want them most.

And it wouldn't matter if the plans are good, or fair, you can fill in the gaps with the information on the forum.

Have you already checked out the plans we have here, the Generic Benroy, the Vintage Plans, and the Hall of Fame?

Mike...

The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

If you and your wife want to see some up close and personal, come to Inks Lake on Nov 16-18. There will be around twenty or so trailers there. Hopfully mine will be one of them.

I myself went with the Generic Benroy and changed some things to suit me and what I wanted. I really love the profile. The plans are great and it is a fairly simple build. And the best thing is that they are free at the top of these pages.
If profile doesn't matter to you, then do like Mike said, find the one that has what you need on it.
Have fun and it's great to see another Texan join the group.
Dooner.
