Hi All,
I have been lurking on some of the teardrop lists since before I bought my '47 Kit Sportsman off of eBay 4 years ago. Unfortunately, none of the lists I was monitoring had much traffic from the Central and Southern California areas. I recently found this list and joined up today.
I really enjoy camping out in my teardrop. I always get at least a few people asking about it whenever I take it out. Coming from tent camping the teardrop makes a big difference in enjoying the experience. The bed in the trailer agrees much better with my back than any pad or air mattress I've been able to find.
I had been thinking of getting a teardrop for about 7 years prior to getting one. I was planning on buying a new one but my occasional searches on eBay found a '47 Kit which was restored to as close to original as possible and it was to too far away. I was the high biddrer but I didn't meet the owners reserve but I was within a few hundred dollars so on a second chance I came up to his reserve and got the trailer.
For the first couple of years I towed the teardrop with my '02 PT Cruiser. Two years ago I got a '72 Styer Puch Pinzgauer 710M troop transport and I've used it to pull the teardrop a few times. I really get a lot of stares going down the road with that combination. I also have a '51 Hudson Hollywood and a '46 Hudson Super Six Club Coupe. I picked up a trailer hitch for the '46 from a Hudson specialist in Arizona and I'm looking forward to towing the teardrop with it once I get it installed and wired for trailer lights.
I'm looking forward to getting out to a teardrop meet sometime this year. I put in a vote to have the Sin City meet at Calico for the first weekend in October as this is also the same weekend as the Mogfest which I've attended the last couple of years with my Pinzgauer -

Don't let the looks of the trucks intimidate anyone. The folks there are a great bunch.
Best Wishes,
