I'm so glad I found you guys! I just bought plans on eBay, and can't wait to start building my 1st TD. I apprenticed with my dad in his custom cabinet/construction biz, so I know my way around routers, saws, jigs....
Are any of you located in the Philly PA area? Are there rallies around here?
This looks like a fun, helpful, crazy group, so I hope to meet some of you in the years ahead.

Welcome Linda. Too bad you didn't find T&TTT before you bought your plans. Look at the design library & the Generic Benroy plans (top of page) that are free to members. Since you know your way around a Cabinet Shop you'll do fine building your teardrop. ;) In the index is a list of areas and you'll find what is going on in your area. :) Danny

Welcome Linda and good luck on your build. Be sure and look up some gatherings in your area. We love showing off our TD's and as you see you will get lots of help with your questions. Have fun!

Hello Linda and welcome to the forum. How fortunate you are to have woodworking experience as you start your build of the teardrop of your dreams. You asked about any local gatherings, and I suggest that you check out the Northeast section of this board, near the bottom. I just did and it looks like there will be a gathering in the fall when the trees are in full color.

Go to the General Discussion section and throw out some questions regarding any teardrop owners/builders in your neck of the woods. Who knows, you might even be able to see on locally and ask questions prior to getting started. A look-see is worth a thousand words. Come on Nor-easters, jump in here and give the gal a hand. Good luck on your build, which of course HAS to be a fine looking woody, right?

Welcome to the Group Linda

Hey! I'm from Philly!

One piece of advise I'd like to give you before you start.. As many Pennsylvanians will tell you, getting a trailer titled in PA. is a P.I.T.Neck.

Tractor Supply Trailers come with a PA. title. Theres a Tractor Supply in Quakertown, PA.

Happy Trails

Len

Hope did not get shafted on that deal. Try the 'Generic Benroy Plans' at the top of the page and compare them to the ones you bought on ebay.

Oh, welcome to the forum. I am over in the York area.

Welcome Linda,

Lottsa nice teardrop folks from the Keystone State, and it sounds like you will be a valued addition here. Much information has surfaced in the last couple of years on teardrop building and most all of it is available here. If you haven't seen them yet there are some really good links at the top of the page, an information index, excellent lists and plans. Please remember one thing when building your very own teardrop, it's not just about the destination, but about the journey as well. 8)

Image to the playground Linda. So nice to have experienced wood workers join. I had to learn that I had done most of these things just in parts of different projects.

Look forward to seeing your TD build. Enjoy and take lots of pictures cause they keep the bubble oil level.

Welcome Linda from another Pa. newbie. We seem to be gathering a lot of folks from the Keystone. So many good folks here, and soooooo much info. Don't know what I would do without my daily forum fix anymore. So throw the cow over the fence some hay, outen the lights. and watch out for the grundsow!

Hi, Linda!

Welcome from another PA newbie! I'm living in York now, but am originally from Bethlehem. Just joined about a week ago myself, and am looking forward to starting a TD.

It's great to hear from other women who want to do this, too. Sounds like you have a big head start with your level of experience and access to tools and expertise. I'll be watching your posts with interest, for sure!

I'm about to try to get a PA title for my pop-up frame -- sounds like it might not be easy, but I do have the Maryland title, so we'll see.

Looking forward to meeting you at one of the gatherings around here! :)

I knew I came to the right place! You guys are awesome! Thanks, LEN, for the Tractor Supply tip....
The plans I bought on eBay are pretty comprehensive (ther are about 5 useful ones on the disc, but I'll still have to tweak them for my own design. And yes, it's a woody! I love wood, so it's the natural choice for me.
The inside is going to be really cool -- kind of a Moroccan theme. I'll take lots of pics to share.
Meantime, I'm still in the design phase.
