Hey all-

I have been lurking for a bit and decided to register and post up. I had planned to build a copy of an Adventure Trailers Chaser but it was going to cost an arm and a leg. I came across this site while searching for trailers and saw some cool teardrops and stumbled across a Grasshopper and fell in love with the shape and the cool factor. I have started designing my own in Autocad and as soon as I get some funds, hopefully I'm going to start building this fall. I have a budget of $1000 or less for the start of this project... we'll see how that goes :)

Great forum and looking forward to some design discussions. I'm going to post in the design forum with some screen shots of my design for comments from the veterans...

Image to the playground Jess. $1000 will get you a fairly good start depending on what you put in it and how good you are at scrounging. HOpe you have a camera for those all important things. :pictures: :pictures: :pictures: ;) Keeps the bubble oil level.

Thanks for the welcome... I'm still searching and learning about wood. I'm a metal guy so building one of these should be a challenge...

Welcome Stomper

I am in Rupert ID. From your avatar are you around the sawtooths? Or dreaming of where you want to be? Nice up there, has been years since I did some camping there. Last summer spent a few days near Stanley at a friends cabin. shoot, that was one fancy cabin, almost a home.

I am from Caldwell.

Your budget is tight. Scrounge, keep it simple and keep it light, very light. Half of the fun is the challenges!

Yes I am SW of Boise in Kuna so the Sawtooths (Sawteeth? :) ) are the backdrop every day on the way to work. I have camped up there a few times and its a great area. The "XL" part of the logo is kind of a joke since the trailer is so small...

Dave- I'm a pretty good scrounger so I'll be relying on that to stay within budget. We'll see how it goes. I will be following the K.I.S.S. principle on this build. It will be a slow road though...

Thanks for the welcomes

Welcome Jess. You guys live in the most beautiful part of the US. The hubby, kids and I lived in Pocatello awhile back and loved it there. If I had the opportunity I would move back. Beautiful, beautiful place.

Welcome to the forums. I live just down the road from you Cloverdale and Amity. I am also in the very start planning stages of a Build. Gonna go with the Generic Benroy plans. Maybe we can bounce ideas and info on good deal finds off each other as we start to build.

Haven’t seen it out in a few weeks but looks like there is a guy building a TD on 5 mile, just down from Amity also.

98 Cherokee with all the trimmings; gears, front locker, air compressor, cb, 8k winch, 4.5" lift, etc... I took the rack off recently though trying to gain some fuel mileage...

Sounds good Chetdog. I'm always scouring Craigslist for deals on whatever. If I find anything that might be useful I'll give you a heads up. I'd like to come look at yours when you get it started... I always like a second set of eyes to make sure I'm not going to kill myself...

Hmm don't think I know them... I used to know a lot of people when the town was smaller but it has grown from 1,500 to 15,000 since I moved here in 86...
