Hello all from the Buckeye state!!!

Postby Dragonryder » Thu Aug 07, 2008 10:22 am

Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and tell you a little about my project. I live with my wife in Ohio and work at a university. I enjoy spending time with my wife and grand daughter, camping riding my motorcycle and working on my camper. We owned a Nomad pop-up that we enjoyed for several years before illness struck my family and life just interrupted. The camper sat for several years until recently when we decided to start up again. When I opened the camper up we were in for a rude surprise, water had gotten inside and rotted the roof and a large part of the canvas. Amazingly it did not get to the floor. I was going to have it towed away until a friend suggested that I use the frame to build a teardrop camper. It is different than most because it is a little bigger. It's not as fancy/pretty as the one's I've seen on here but it's mine and I built it. I am currently about halfway maybe a little more that halfway done with building it, hoping to finish it by this fall. Hope to post pictures of it soon.

Sorry for being so long winded. Hope to be chatting with you all a lot.

Have a great day and good weather to all!!! :)

The 6x10 or 6x12 stance of a popup offers some nice possibilities.
Beds side to side ~ front counter for inside galley. Maybe a short standy even. I just started another project on a popup. It will be a 6x6x12 with a Trolley theme. Rounded front and rear and trolly top with windows. Floor is down but that's all.

I like that "Growin older but not up!" you have on your posts. That fits me to a Tee. I'm building it with the back hatch for the galley, what my wife wanted but it seems to be coming out well. Having the extra wood and accessories from the pop-up has helped in saving money. I've really enjoyed this project. :) Once I figure out how to post pictures on here, I will post some. I've tried to take some as I go along. Just bought a Coleman power converter to convert from AC to DC for my water pump and a few lights so I'm ready to finish the wiring up.

I'm getting antsy. I'm ready to go camping. After we try it out for a summer and work all the bugs out of it, we are planning a trip from Ohio to Wyoming and Montana. Hopefully the fall of 2009.

Have a great day and hope the weather is perfect where ever you are!!!

Pictures are easy enough... just read the "Help with Photos" up there in the menu.

Looking forward to seeing your photos...

Image to the playground DR. We sure have lots of pop-ups going up around here. They might not have the "cute factor of a normal size teardrop but they are very comfortable.

Enjoy and get those pictures done cause the bubble is slippin. 8) If you need help just yell. 8)
