Very Newbie here

Postby eaglesdare » Wed Aug 27, 2008 6:34 pm

Hello everyone, i have only been registered for about a day now, but have been lurking and reading like crazy for a few days.

I was orginally looking at getting a TAB, even talked my hubby into getting one in the spring. but after all this reading, i just think we should try building our very own and making it just the way I want it.

So don't expect any pics just yet. I have just come up with my plan in my head and have it sort of on paper.

But one thing I would like to make clear and ask for your patience. As I have no idea what terms are what. I am a true beginner. But when I tell my hubby what to build and give my plans he can build it. Please bear with my ignorance to a lot of questions I will be asking.

Thanks so much, and I am so glad to have found this site.

Welcome there dare!

Did you already read the Generic Benroy Plans up there in the menu?

How about some of the Vintage plans?

Oh yea, also check out the design library! :D

Mike...

P.S. Check out the Hall of Fame too!

Thank you for the welcome.

Yes I have read and viewed all those you suggested.

The bad part is, that since I am old and have no memory anymore (crs) I am trying to find out the size trailer I will need. That is going to be my first purchase. I just can't remember all the different things and forums/posts that I have read about them all.

I think I interested in HF's but really not 100% sure yet. But I do know we are going to attempt a 6 by 10 foot inside tear drop. So now I am searching for what size trailer I will need.

Welcome to the forum.

Trailer selection is a subject that has numerous threads and many, many post including stickies devoted to the subject. If you don't find the appropriate discussion searching, you can post your question I'm sure the folks on this forum will flood you with ideas and information on any topic regarding teardrops or tiny travel trailers.

Be sure and take plenty of pictures of your build as its completion is a life changing event. When you post questions it also helps to post pictures to get better feedback from this group of teardrop enthusiast.

Hope you are able to get started soon and your build goes smoothly.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Last week I finally talked my hubby into getting me a tab for my birthday, but that isn't til April. So I have an OCD problem, and I just couldn't stop reading about TAB's and one site led to another and another. Now I am going to make the attempt to build one.

I have a 9 yr old son that will always go camping with me, and then I have my hubby and grandson that will come along sometimes. So my design in my head is for a double bed width wise and then a twin length wise with a cut out dinette there (or maybe a smaller than a twin with a bunk bed.

Not 100% on any particulars yet except that I want it close to the 6x10 inside as possible. Then I have room to play a bit if need be.

But nothing is in writing or set in stone just yet.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum. Yes, you'll sure be reading a lot! And don't mind too much about the people here. We are all a friendly bunch of people. So ask away...

I read that you like the T@b. Good choice. In this forum you'll find quite a few threads on T@bs, and especially the profile.

For a few T@b threads, go here:

and

One of our members, H@nk, is building a smaller version of the T@b. Something between a T@b and a teardrop. It looks like this:

H@nk's Album is here:

Here you will find quite a few pictures of his T@b clone.

Hope this inspires you to build...

Keep moving forward.

Image to the playground Eaglesdare. There are a few builds that meet your ideas. Ours is 6'4" across and it is almost perfect for me. I just wish I had gotten a custom trailer and put things a bit different. 8) Next time!

Here are some larger TD's too.
