Postby wingnutt111 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 6:32 pm

hey ya'll! its been a while since i posted here.ive been doing lots and lots of research!!!!! restless, irritable, and discontentment have been running me since my td disease brought me TO MY KNEES here 6 or so months ago.it was then that some crazy ol' fart named MAD JACK gave me the most profound advise any teardropper could ever come to hear! "patience grasshopper!" well, i gotta tell ya, i dont like that crap!im an addict damn-it.sure enough, after beating my self senceless, i had to surrender to you folks.in just 6 short months of following, this simple program and reading all these stupid forums im finally seeing results just picked up my frame, custom built(BAJA TRAILERS), i drew out my profile on cad and sent it to mike over at SOCAL TEARDROPS and he cut out my design on his cnc machine(STOKED!) and i found some closed cell 1/2 in. marine foam(water and mold resistant) that im gluing right on to my profile and stretching marine vinyl on top of that for my interior walls(insulation?,no problem) a light distressed leather with a 60s paisley design with chocolate padded headboard and doors! WOW! my very own padded room! my hatch will be copper leaf stencil with a muratic acid wash treatment over stained birch which will give it a really cool effect! im starting my build next week while i practice grasshopping. i will post pics then and introduce the new offroad "SURF-INN"!!!! thanks everyone for h answering all my questions and a big thanks to MAD JACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you have found out it isn't only about the destination but also about the journey. Sounds like it will be one hell of a ride  8)

8) That MadOne is an instigator for sure. Trouble hanging around him. If you are not careful you will end making another. Now it is a good thing you had the profile cnc cut. Less addiction that way. ;)

Wingnut,

Good to hear you're still with us. I wondered where you went after we met at SoCal's shop over the summer. Can't wait to see your build. From the looks of the work on your website, it should be spectacular!

My build's is about 95% done. I just need to install the exterior fixtures and finish up the galley cabinets. Of course, even that might take a couple months, as I don't get much time to work on it. I'll post lots of pics when I'm done.
I got my 4' .032 aluminum locally from IMS. There's a location in L.A. too:
http://www.imsmetals.com/location/sunvalley.htm
They carried the 4' .032 in stock, and were able to order the 5' .050 for me as well. They were great to work with and delivered the sheets right to my door (on a very large, very heavy wood pallet).

I know! My album is getting cluttered with pics of other people's trailers. Here's mine, though it's an older photo. Mine is all skinned now and much further along. I promise I'll have new photos soon.
