Starting a build

Postby crazycyclist » Sun Nov 30, 2008 6:50 am

I'm getting ready to start a build. I've ordered my axle system and will be ordering steel on Monday. Ready or not, here we come...

Hi CC,

Welcome to the forum. Do you have a first name to offer? If not you will probably be called CC or crazy.....probably not good. Looked at your web page and really laughed at the "Wheels of Life" and I'm jealous of the bicycle tour you took of the Lewis and Clark route. Although, I could never do it on a bicycle. Anyway, when you start your build, be sure and posts lots of pictures, because it helps keep Aunti M's bubble oil level.

See you around.

Image to the playground CC. 8) Love the tour. It is one of our dream tours, just not on two wheels. I see by your site that you understand the importance of keeping the bubble oil level.

Thanks everyone... I'll post pics here as well as more on my web site as the build progresses. And I'll have questions. I have a distinct advantage of being friends with the builder of the jPod and "Senior Management", and have been able to observe his build directly - but each one is different. I'm sure I'll have questions and appreciation sharing. I've already learned a lot from lurking an posting a couple questions.

Hi Mel, welcome to the best teardrop site on the web. Of course you know, when you finish your build and experience the joys of camping in it, you're gonna want to sell your coach, pictured behind you. Well if not, at least you will know how much cheaper it is to camp in a tear. The other option is to hook up the tear to the back of your motorhome and blow the minds of all of the other motorhomers. (It may well attract a lot of attention in a pull-through campground)

Camping is fun, especially in a custom-built, teardrop trailer of your own design and built by a craftsman who enjoys creating unique tag-along marvels.

Enjoy your build, take pics, post em, swing on by out here when it is finished and by all means............just take pleasure in having a very special, eye-catching, self-created product, unlike any other.

That "coach" is actually our school's bus that I drive for them. I can't afford anything like that - hence the teardrop!

Gday crazy
I too am a crazy bike rider, but not touring more into MTB,. we have some great trails in my area, one of which just held the Kona 24 hour event. we put a six person mixed team in which came forth, gotta be happy with that.
Into cycling that much that my mate who is building the chassis was told that there had to be a receiver hitch welded onto the rear so I can fit my hollywood bike rack.

YAY the crazy biker is here. I'm glad you've caught the teardrop sickness.

I also look forward to seeing your build take shape. "Senior Management" is a also excited that some friends have caught the bug.

I too am glad, for your sake, that you've been able to see our build up close. Hopefully, you can avoid some of the design delays & problems that we've had.

Oops, sorry about that Mel, that sure is a fine looking school bus. I guess I should have known better, having traveled full-time in a little 28 footer for about 6 years. Saw lots of neat rigs during our travels, none of which I could ever afford. So, join the club. Nevertheless, good luck on your build. Enjoy

No problem Roly. I didn't think about how the picture would be seen here. Hmmm... I'm sure I'll have one with a teardrop soon!
