Hey Susann
Welcome aboard. My wife Macy and I finished our teardrop in June of 07.
Have pulled it almost 10,000 miles. We are in NLR close to the Old Mill.
There are several gatherings we have attended and we feel you would enjoy the atmosphere and people. There is a guy close to me who has two "Little Guys" for sale. I know you said they were not your cup of tea and you may
have already seen his. He lives on Lakeview Dr.
Let us know if we can help in any way.

Thanks for the welcome, Larry. I am up here in Cammack.

I am planning on getting a Little Guy Silver Shadow. It has the galley that I like better than the one on the regular Little Guys. Why does that guy have 2 for sale?

He told me he saw the smaller one at a house in Maumelle and fell in love with the style.
Bought it, and then contacted Little Guy and bought one of their demo units.
The second one I think is a 6 wide with the camo option. Said he was thinking of becoming a dealer. He had them in his front yard with for sale signs and a phone number. Said the demo unit has been slept in one night.
I too do not care for the models with no galleys.

Yep, it's the 4 cylinder, and no, it doesn't have a turbo in it. Typically we get 25 mpg while driving to and from work. Towing the trailer we only got 14 mpg. But it is a huge trailer!

We like the Subaru. It handles like a car, and has a nice tight turning radius. Oh, it's quiet too! Of course, if I had my druthers, I'd get the turbo diesel. Last time I looked they were saying 2010 for the turbo diesels in USA.

I have had my Subaru for 2 years now, and I really like it. One of my reasons for getting it is the low height for an SUV. It is so much easier for me to throw my 11' kayak up there and take off. Plus, it has good room for my dogs and their crate.

  That is a shame cause we get that with our full size truck. 8) There has to be a happy balance somewhere for bigger TD's.

Subaru Forester And Impreza Boxer Diesel Bringing 37 MPG To Paris Motor Show

BOXER DIESEL FORESTER AND IMPREZA UNVEILED AT PARIS MOTOR SHOW

Subaru’s highly-acclaimed new Boxer Diesel engine will appear for the first time in both the new Forester and Impreza at the 2008 Paris Motor Show (October 4-19).

Meanwhile, other highlights include a Subaru Impreza WRX2008 replica plus the Subaru R1e and G4e electric cars. There will also be a 50th Anniversary Display showcasing the original Subaru 360 minicar.

Subaru’s press conference takes place on the Subaru stand at 17.00 hours on Thursday, October 2, 2008.

New Boxer Diesel Forester And Impreza
Both the new Forester SUV and Impreza five-door will be unveiled featuring Subaru’s highly-acclaimed new 2.0 litre Boxer Diesel engine.

The world’s first horizontally-opposed diesel engine for a passenger car has won widespread praise for its refinement, smoothness, sharp throttle-response and outstanding fuel economy. It first appeared in the Legacy and Outback earlier this year.
Both the Forester and Impreza Boxer Diesels feature new six-speed manual gearboxes while the engine itself benefits from a new closed-type diesel particulate filter.

Such is the efficiency of the new engine that the Forester 2.0D boasts class-leading fuel economy and emissions.

No other SUV can better the 44.8 mpg Combined and 167 g/km of the Forester 2.0D X.

The Forester 2.0D produces 147 PS and 258 lb ft torque and the Impreza 150 PS and 258 lb ft – both at 3,600 rpm and 1,800 rpm respectively.

The engine’s benefits include exceptional compactness, light weight and a low centre-of-gravity which benefits handling agility and makes best use of the standard all-wheel drive system.

The new Forester Boxer Diesel goes on sale in the UK in late September and the Impreza Boxer Diesel in January 2009.

My teardrop is going to be here on Tuesday!!!!! I did get a 5 x8 Silver Shadow, and Scott from Little Guy is the one who will be delivering it.

I pulled all of my camping gear out of my storage shed this morning and have been sorting through it instead of working like I should be.

The only thing new that I have ordered for the TD is a First Up 10x10 with both the mesh and wind screens. After reading lots of info in the forum, I decided that one might be easier for me to put up by myself. I am going to camp a few times before I decide if there is other new stuff that I will need to get. I am sure there is, but I don't want to rush right out and buy without determining what I might really need. I do have quite a bit of camping gear that I did use in my pop-up, so I am pretty well set, I think.

I will post pics when I have them of the TD.

Hi all -- New couple here

Postby OuttaHand » Sun Jan 11, 2009 6:25 pm

My wife and I are new to teardrops. In fact, we don't technically have one yet. We bought the 5'x8' Northern Tool trailer kit a couple weeks ago and I plan to start construction this coming spring.

There are so many designs, plans, and pictures out there, it's been hard to figure out a good design. But I've been sketching, drawing, etc. and have now gotten a design down on graph paper to scale. I think it should work out well.

I grew up in a camping family. Dad was a school teacher and mom didn't work outside the home so we camped a lot during the summers. We have camped in 26 of the t0 states and have driven through others. That was all in a 14' aluminum Rlite hard sided popup trailer. Pretty comfy.

When I got older we stopped camping and spent more time in our cabin. As an adult I bought a tent and did some tent camping. But now, in our 40's, the tent does not hold the appeal it once did. The ground is pretty hard for our middle-aged bodies. The idea of inexpensinve camping is still terrific, though.

My wife stumbled upon a web site about teardrops about 2 years ago and it cought our eyes. We've been doing some research on and off since then and now have decided to begin.

I plan to use this forum as much as possible to glean any info that the "old hands" can provide. I did my homework before buying the Northern Tool trailer. Now I plan to do a lot of homework before building atop it. :)

Why are you people so afraid of towing a trailer with a 4 cilinder car?!!??

Here in Holland cars with more than 4 cilinders are rare!

My first car was a 4 cilinder 900cc Fiat Panda an I travelled with a 600kg (braked) caravan to Croatia (1600km) and back ofcourse. No problem!

Why are you so scared about that?
