New To Teardroping

Postby Mark S. » Fri May 29, 2009 5:21 pm

Just thought I should introduce myself.

My name is Mark from Hillsboro Oregon. My wife and I purchased a new Silver Shadow teardrop a couple of months ago. We never new what they even were until we were at a camping world store and saw one. We liked the idea so much we purchased it the next weekend.

We have gone camping twice now and love it! We never camped together before because the idea of tent camping was too much and having a big trailer was not appealing to us at all.

Our first trip out we brought our neighbors with us and they liked it so much they bought a used one a week later.

Looking forward to many more camping trips in the years ahead!
I am going to add a cabinet to the galley this weekend and also hook up a 12v power converter with the hopes of being able to disconnect the battery and then use that stand to connect an 11lb propane tank to use for the Coleman stove.

I love the ideas you guys have on this site and look forward to maybe going to a meet and getting to see some of those cool homemade teardrops in person.

Hi,

Welcome, I have a Silver Shadow as well. I have wanted one for 3 yrs, but have only had mine since Mother's Day, a 5x10. My husband is coming around to the idea and has camped with me twice. I purchased it to camp with the kids when he is working. We are camping in our front yard this weekend. I set it all up and set out the fire pit and chairs. I'll be mixing drinks for the neighbors.

Have a great time and go to a gathering asap. I went to one on our maiden voyage. There were 12 TD & TTT's there to check out and hang with. The best start.

Mark, welcome to the board. Good for you, getting a Teardrop first, then posting a message on the board, second. Usually folks go about it the other way. Enjoy that TD, and be sure to attend a gathering as soon as you can. You'll meet a bunch of great folks, since teardroppers are really a special breed. Enjoy.

hey Mark, nice to see another oregonian here. We had a gathering of over 50 trailers last weekend. The next one is June 5th in the eugene area. I can get more info to you if you would like.
Hope to see you somewhere on the trail, randy

Thanks for the Welcome Randy, Roly, Dagny and others.
I look forward to meeting some of you throughout the years.

I would have responded sooner but have busy building a new shelf in the back of the teardrop and adding propane and a power supply this week.

Randy, another Oregonian!
We have camped a couple of times already and other then our neighbors we have yet to see another teardrop trailer.
Eugene would have been a great gathering to attend but we already have plans to go to Nehalem State Park this weekend.

I hope you guys have a great time and enjoy the weather!
